In 1963 the automobile was sold to the USA, and in 1978 it found a new owner in Australia. During its time in Australia, the car was extensively restored and fitted with a new Drophead Coupé body with 3 position hood by the renowned coachbuilder Roger Fry. Over the years, this splendid Bentley DHC has won several prizes. In 2012 the automobile was purchased by a collector in the Netherlands, who has enjoyed the car on many outings and historic events. In 2013 the engine was fully overhauled; invoices and photographs of the work are present. Over the past fourteen years the car has been serviced and maintained perfectly in the workshops of Altena Classic Service. The service history of this Bentley is beautifully documented, and the car is in excellent condition. The Bentley 4¼ Litre belongs to the celebrated series of “Derby Bentleys”, the first generation of Bentleys built after Rolls Royce acquired the marque in 1931. Introduced in 1936 as an evolution of the earlier 3½ Litre, the 4¼ Litre featured a more powerful 4.25 litre six cylinder engine, improved performance, and the same beautifully crafted chassis that allowed coachbuilders to create bespoke bodies. The model quickly became known for its silky-smooth running, excellent road manners, and sporting elegance, making it one of the most admired pre war British grand tourers. This perfectly maintained example is fitted with EZ electric power steering, elevating the driving experience to an even higher level. This is your chance to acquire a high quality pre war Bentley for your collection, ready to be enjoyed to the fullest.
